The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 it will be a hard day 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
