The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
