The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 except boiling water and pus 25 a fitting requital, 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
