The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
