And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any sincere friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
