The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
