The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
