He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
