Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 And the parent and the offspring, 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 an orphaned relative 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 Such are they that have attained to righteousness; 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 On them will be Fire vaulted over (all round). 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
