Nay! By the moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 Warn the men. 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
