The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 On a grievous day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those brought nigh. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
