The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 on a fateful Day. 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
