Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
