Surely We created man of a clay of mud moulded, 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 When your Lord said to the angels: 'See, I am creating a mortal from clay of molded mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He replied, "I am not one to prostrate myself to a man whom You have created out of a clay of moulded mud." 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said: my Lord! respite me then till the Day whereon they will be raised up. 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
