They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 Say: "I will cite before you his commemoration." We gave him authority in the land and means of accomplishing every end. 84 So he followed a course. 85 Until when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he perceived it setting in a miry spring, and he found beside it a nation. We said: Zul Qarnian! either chastise them or take in respect of them the way of kindness. 86 He said: "I shall punish whosoever is wicked. He will then be sent back to his Lord who will inflict on him a terrible punishment. 87 But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have a reward of Paradise, and we will speak to him from our command with ease." 88 He then followed (another) road 89 Till he reached the point of the rising sun, and saw it rise over a people for whom We had provided no shelter against it. 90 Even so! and We had a full knowledge of what he had. 91 Then he followed (another) course. 92 Until when he reached (a place) between the two mountains, he found on that side of them a people who could hardly understand a word. 93 They said: "O Zul-qarnain! the Gog and Magog (People) do great mischief on earth: shall we then render thee tribute in order that thou mightest erect a barrier between us and them? 94 He said: "(The power) in which my Lord has established me is better (than tribute): Help me therefore with strength (and labour): I will erect a strong barrier between you and them: 95 Bring me lumps of iron. Then when he had evened up between the two mountain-sides, he said: blow! Then when he had made it fire, he said: bring me and I shall pour thereon molten copper. 96 Therefore Yajuj and Majuj were neither able to surmount it, nor could they pierce it. 97 He said: This is a mercy from my Lord, but when the promise of my Lord comes to pass He will make it level with the ground, and the promise of my Lord is ever true. 98 ۞ AND ON that Day" We shall [call forth all mankind and] leave them to surge like waves [that dash] against one another; and the trumpet [of judgment] will be blown, and We shall gather them all together. 99 And on that Day We shall place hell, for all to see, before those who denied the truth 100 whose eyes were covered against My remembrance, and they were not able to hear. 101
