O YOU APOSTLES! Partake of the good things of life, and do righteous deeds: verily, I have full knowledge of all that you do. 51 And verily this Brotherhood of yours is a single Brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore fear Me (and no other). 52 But they cut off their religion among themselves into sects, each part rejoicing in that which is with them. 53 Leave them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that by what We aid them with of wealth and children, 55 We hasten unto them with good things? Nay, but they perceive not. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who consider nothing equal to their Lord, 59 And those who dispense their charity with their hearts full of fear, because they will return to their Lord;- 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 And we task not any soul beyond its scope, and with Us is a Record which speaketh the truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 Until, when We grasp those of them who lead a luxurious life with punishment, behold! They make humble invocation with a loud voice. 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My communications were indeed recited to you, but you used to turn back on your heels, 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Is it then that they do not ponder over what is said, or is it that there has come to them that which did not come to their fathers of old? 68 Or is it that they did not recognise their Noble Messenger, therefore they consider him alien? 69 Do they say he is mad! No, he came to them with the truth, but most of them hate the truth. 70 Were the Truth to follow their desires, the order of the heavens and the earth and those who dwell in them would have been ruined. Nay, the fact is that We have brought to them their own remembrance; and yet it is from their own remembrance that they are turning away. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 And indeed, We tested them through suffering, but they did not abase themselves before their Sustainer; and they will never humble themselves 76 Until, when We open for them the gate of extreme punishment, behold! they are aghast thereat. 77
