The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They reject (the warning) and follow their (own) lusts but every matter has its appointed time. 3 And indeed there has come to them news (in this Quran) wherein there is (enough warning) to check (them from evil), 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 Noah prayed, "Lord, help me; I am defeated". 10 Then We opened the gates of the heaven with rain pouring down 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 The people of 'Ad too rejected the truth. How terrible was My punishment and My warning. 18 We indeed sent towards them a severe windstorm, on a day the ill luck of which lasted upon them forever. 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
