Hizb 46
< random >
Jonah was certainly a Messenger. 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 cast lots, and was among the losers. 141 and the fish swallowed him while he was blaming himself. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 They believed in him so We granted them enjoyment for an appointed time. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters over sons? 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Do you have any clear authority for such claims? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Can lead (any) into temptation concerning Allah, 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And assuredly Our word hath already gone forth Our bondmen, the sent ones: 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 And verily Our host! they are to be overcome. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When that chastisement will descend upon their courtyard, evil shall that Day be for those who had been warned. 177 And turn away from them till a time 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
True are the words of God the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
