Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 you cannot escape Him anywhere on earth. You have no protector or helper other than God. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 If He wills, He can calm the winds so the ships remain still on the sea surface; indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 33 or else He may cause them to perish because of what they have wrought; and [withal,] He pardons much. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, 36 And those who shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive. 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 And those who, when tyranny strikes them, they defend themselves, 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment. 42 whoever is patient and forgiving, acts with great courage and resolution. 43
