The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 By the House Frequented. 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and the sea swarming, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Will be the day of woe for those 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They will recline (with ease) on thrones arranged in ranks. And We shall marry them to Houris (female, fair ones) with wide lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
