Thamud gave the lie to the warnings, 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How was then My punishment of which they had been warned? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 and even demanded that he give up his guests [to them]: whereupon We deprived them of their sight [and thus told them, as it were]: "Taste, then, the suffering which I inflict when My warnings are disregarded!" 37 And early in the morning the decreed punishment came upon them. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 40
