Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 What do you comprehend by the concrete reality? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
