Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and rebelled against their Lord's Messenger. So He took them with a stern taking. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a high Garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 Of no use was even my wealth. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 nor any food except foul pus 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
