Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 [Noah] said, "My people! I am but a plain warner to you, 2 "That ye should worship Allah, fear Him and obey me: 3 Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' " 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And lo! whenever I call unto them that Thou mayst pardon them they thrust their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments and persist (in their refusal) and magnify themselves in pride. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will let loose the sky upon you in abundance 11 increase your wealth and sons; and grant you gardens and waterways. 12 What aileth you that ye expect not in Allah majesty! 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 Afterwards He will return you into it (the earth), and bring you forth (again on the Day of Resurrection)? 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
