Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 Which guides to the right path; and we have come to believe in it, and will not associate any one with our Lord. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 And [now we know] that the foolish among us have been saying outrageous things about God. 4 And that we thought that men and jinn did not utter a lie against Allah: 5 'And verily, there were men among mankind who took shelter with the masculine among the jinns, but they (jinns) increased them (mankind) in sin and disbelief. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. 8 'And verily, we used to sit there in stations, to (steal) a hearing, but any who listens now will find a flaming fire watching him in ambush. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 And some of us are the righteous, and some of us are otherwise; we are sects differing. 11 And that we know that we cannot escape Allah in the earth, nor can we escape Him by flight: 12 And when we heard the Message of guidance, we believed therein; and whosoever believeth in his Lord, he shall fear neither diminution nor wrong. 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
