Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 In Gardens they will question 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever will may heed. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
