The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they cried loud lies to Our signs; 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
