And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 and grant me an honourable reputation among posterity, 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 Do not betray me 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
