Nay, by the Moon 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 Verily it is one of the greatest woes. 35 A warning for people -- 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 except those of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Of evil-doers: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors will be of no benefit to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
