Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds (or angels or the Messengers of Allah) sent forth one after another. 1 storming tempestuously 2 Consider these [messages] that spread [the truth] far and wide, 3 thus separating [right and wrong] with all clarity, 4 and those hurling a reminder 5 To end all argument or to warn. 6 Verily that which ye are promised is about to befall. 7 Then the stars will lose their light. 8 And when the heaven is opened 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 The Messengers will receive their appointments. 11 For what day is the time appointed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 And what shall teach thee what is the Day of Decision? 14 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 15 Destroyed We not the former folk, 16 and let the latter follow them? 17 thus do We deal with the culprits. 18 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 and place it in a secure place 21 For a known period (determined by gestation)? 22 And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine. 23 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth! 24 Have We not made the earth a housing 25 The living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Depart into the shadow of three masses, 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 Surely it sends up sparks like palaces, 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 They will not be able to speak that day, 35 nor will they be permitted to offer any excuses. 36 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 if you have a trick, try you now to trick Me!' 39 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 40
