The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 That run their course (and) hide themselves, 16 And the close of night, 17 and brightening morning, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
