Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 "That you should worship Allah (Alone), be dutiful to Him, and obey me, 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 Noah said, "My Lord, I have been preaching to my people, night and day, 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send down abundant rain from the sky for you, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you that you fear not the greatness of Allah? 13 And indeed He has created you through various grades: 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 and has placed the moon in them as a light, and the sun as a radiant lamp? 16 And God caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 so that you may walk along its spacious paths?" 20
