Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
