The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). 1 And if they behold a portent they turn away and say: Prolonged illusion. 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Effective wisdom; but warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come out from the graves with eyes lowered, as if they were spread locusts. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 And We have left this as a Sign (for all time): then is there any that will receive admonition? 15 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 The tribe of A’ad denied – so how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 which tore people away and hurled them as though they were trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
