Therefore remind! by thy Lord's blessing thou art not a soothsayer neither possessed. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say thou: wait verily I am, with you, among the waiters. 31 Do their minds command them this [i.e. to tell a lie against you (Muhammad SAW)] or are they people exceeding the bounds (i.e. from Belief in Allah to disbelief). 32 What! They say, “He has invented the Qur'an”? Rather they do not have faith. 33 (If they are truthful in this), then let them produce a discourse of similar splendour. 34 Were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain. 36 Or do they have your Lord's treasures in their keeping? Or have absolute authority over them? 37 Do they have a ladder (by which they can climb up to the heavens) and listen (to the angels) and come back to the rest of the people with clear authority? 38 Or has He (Allah) only daughters and you have sons? 39 Or askest thou (Muhammad) a fee from them so that they are plunged in debt? 40 Or is the Unseen in their keeping, and so they are writing it down? 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Exalted is Allah far above the things they associate with Him! 43 And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up." 44 Hence, leave them alone until they face that [Judgment] Day of theirs, when they will be stricken with terror: 45 the Day when none of their scheming will be of the least avail to them, and they will receive no succour. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 Be patient, then, (O Prophet), until the judgement of your Lord comes. For surely you are before Our eyes. And celebrate the praise of your Lord when you rise, 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
