By the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed hell is one of the greatest entities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul is pledged to what it does, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 about the sinners. 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56
