They will ask you about ThulKarnain (the pious and chosen). Say: 'I will recite to you something of his story. 83 We established him in the land, and We gave him a way to everything; 84 He set out (westwards) on an expedition, 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He said, 'As for the evildoer, him we shall chastise, then he shall be returned to his Lord and He shall chastise him with a horrible chastisement. 87 As for he who believes and does good works he shall receive a fine reward in recompense and we shall speak to him with a mild command' 88 Then he followed a road 89 To the extent that when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising upon a nation for which We had not kept any shelter from it. 90 It was so, for We were fully informed about him. 91 He travelled 92 Till, when he came between the two mountains, he found upon their hither side a folk that scarce could understand a saying. 93 'ThulKarnain' they said, 'Look, Gog and Magog are corrupting the earth. Build for us a barrier between us and them, and we will pay you a tribute' 94 He said: "(The power) in which my Lord has established me is better (than tribute): Help me therefore with strength (and labour): I will erect a strong barrier between you and them: 95 Bring me blocks of iron to fill up the passage between the two mountains." He told them to ply their bellows until the iron became hot as fire. Then he told them to pour on it molten brass." 96 And (Gog and Magog) were not able to surmount, nor could they pierce (it). 97 Dhu al-Qarnayn said: "This is a mercy from my Lord: but when the time of my Lord's promise shall come, He will level the rampart with the ground. My Lord's promise always comes true." 98 ۞ On that Day, We shall let them surge against each other like waves and then the Trumpet will be blown and We shall gather them all together. 99 We will fully expose the view of hell on that Day to the disbelievers, 100 They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear. 101
