The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 That over which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
