[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Behold, Shu'aib said to them: "Will ye not fear (Allah)? 177 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 178 so fear God, and obey me. 179 I ask of you no reward for this. My reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 and do not deliver short, and do not go about creating mischief in the land, 183 And fear Him who created you and all the earlier people." 184 They said, "You are no more than a bewitched and insane man 185 You are only a human being like ourselves. Indeed we think you are a liar. 186 Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us, if thou art of the truthful. 187 Answered [Shu'ayb]: "My Sustainer knows fully well what you are doing." 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not Muslims. 190 And indeed your Lord only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
