The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Praise be to Allah, Who hath sent to His Servant the Book, and hath allowed therein no Crookedness: 1 so that he could warn them of His stern retribution, give the glad news of the best and everlasting reward to the righteously striving believers, 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 And that it may warn those who say: "God has begotten a son." 4 They do not have any knowledge of it – nor did their forefathers; profound is the word that comes out of their mouths; they only speak a lie. 5 Perhaps, you, would kill yourself (O Muhammad SAW) in grief, over their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in this narration (the Quran). 6 Behold, We have willed that all beauty on earth be a means by which We put men to a test, [showing] which of them are best in conduct; 7 and, verily, [in time] We shall reduce all that is on it to barren dust! 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the Cave, they said: 'Lord give us from Your Mercy and furnish us with rectitude in our affair' 10 We then thumped upon their ears in the Cave for a number of years. (* Put them to sleep.) 11 and then roused them so that We might see which of the two parties could best tell the length of their stay. 12
