The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." 10 And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. 22
