The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 And woe to him! How he plotted!- 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then looked he, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
