The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
