The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
