The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a great day 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients' 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
