The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
