The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and give warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 May he be condemned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he considered [again]; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was proud; 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
