The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
