۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
