The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
