So exhort (them, O Prophet), for by your Lord's Grace, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 Do they say: “He has himself fabricated the Qur'an?” No; the truth is that they are altogether averse to believing. 33 Then let them bring an announcement like it if they are truthful. 34 Were they created out of nothing, or are they their own creators? 35 Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, they have no firm belief. 36 [How could they?] Are thy Sustainer's treasures with them? Or are they in charge [of destiny]? 37 Or have they a ladder, by which they can (climb up to heaven and) listen (to its secrets)? Then let (such a) listener of theirs produce a manifest proof. 38 Or, [if you believe in God, how can you believe that] He has [chosen to have] daughters, whereas you yourselves would have [only] sons? 39 Or do you demand any wages from them so that they are burdened with expense? 40 Or possess they the Unseen so that they can write (it) down? 41 Do they design evil plans? The disbelievers themselves will be snared by their evil plots. 42 Or have they a god other than Allah? Glory be to Allah from what they set up (with Him). 43 And if they should see a fragment of the heaven falling down, they would say: it is only clouds piled up. 44 So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible - 45 A day in which their guile will naught avail them, nor will they be helped. 46 Truly, for those who do wrong there is a punishment besides that, though most of them do not know it. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
